The reduction linocut “Let Sleeping Dogs Lie” was based on an existing Indian dog I met in Chennai at the beginning of 2015. The dog is called Bobo and was picked up from the streets just when he was a couple of weeks old. He was also marked with some yellow stains, apparently to bring luck. In India it’s a normal thing to see streets dogs all over the place so to find a puppy lying near a road it’s not that surprising. To pick up a dog from the streets and take it home is quite a brave gesture. And, the only reason it was taken in just because my friends found it on the New Year eve, a bit sad and lucky in a perspective of the whole dog situation. In any way Bobo is having a happy life, he’s a bit silly, but happy. He’s at that stage when he bites literally everything he sees. So thus the idea of let the sleeping dogs lie came into life.
